After graduating in December last year, I felt myself worthy of an extended holiday seeing that I have been studying for the past 4 years. But last month, I realised that I was at home for 6 MONTHS already and frankly, I was getting sick of it! So I decided to get my life back on the road. My options were: Get a job, working holiday abroad, or go and study further so I decided to start my career and look a job.

I must admit, looking for a job wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. All in all, I only applied for about 4 jobs. The first interview I had was with a media company that had its focus on adverting and web sales. The position was for an IT Manager managing a small group of developers in various programming languages. The other was for a commercial open source vendor. The latter I found to be a exciting position that I was extremely keen on.
Two interviews and a brief motivational assignment later, I had a job offer! I will be working as a Software Community/Product Evangelist and will be scouring the web and the software community and communicate these issues to various departments in the company, and vice versa. I’ll start working on the 6th of April which is probably THE best month to start IMO and another plus is that I’ll be travelling to conferences and such in the future, once I’m settled in.
Can’t wait…

And so it begins…
Well, after a few requests, I’ve finally decided to start blogging. Apparently, all the cool kids are doing it. I have great ideas for this blog and will promise not to let it stagnate so I’ll try my best to post often. This blog finds its temporary home at wordpress.com which is severely limited as far as customisation is concerned but is good with everything else and as soon as I get a domain registered I’ll pimp it out – to the max…I promise.
Anyway, this stage of my life sees me transitioning from student life to starting my career which seems quite daunting at first. What with the job applications and interviews, I’m gonna have to sell myself harder than ever before but – I’m excited, and I have a good feeling that these big boy rides are gonna be way better!
So, I’m strapping myself in…here it goes!
